We are looking for 2 experienced Plant Managers to ensure the safe, efficient and effective running of anaerobic digestion plants located in a) Midlands and b) Yorkshire. These are both "on farm" plants with the operational teams already in place and whom work closely with farmers and contractors.

These role will be 40 hours p/week and involve some weekend working/on call rota. If you are looking for a new challenge within a friendly working environment then this might be the role your looking for.

Role description:

Ensuring the efficient operation of the plant to maximise energy production whilst ensuring KPI’s are met. 

Remote monitoring via the SCADA system and optimisation of the plant.

Feedstock management in terms of monitoring, reporting, ordering, delivery, storage and use.

Manage site cleanliness and ongoing housekeeping.

Manage the site team and client relationship.

Manage all health, safety and environmental considerations.

Undertaking plant and site safety inspections to ensure a safe working environment at all times. 

Ensuring that all existing H&S policies are enforced through a collaborative and educational manner. 

Ensure site resource competencies are maintained.

Develop competencies to ensure optimised outputs are achieved.

Ensure staffing levels are controlled (with a rota) and performance levels are kept to a high standard.

Problem solving – invoice reconciliation, weighbridge issues and diversion of vehicles.

Assisting the Regional Manager/Director in the implementation and monitoring of all permit requirements.

Maintain site fire systems and checks in collaboration with the Maintenance team.

Engagement and liaison with the local community and external regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency and local Councils, where required upon the direction from senior management.

Working alongside Plant Operators to ensure plant uptime and and efficiency are well maintained.

Maintaining a working knowledge of current industry best practice and regulation.

Assist with the management of all aspects of site preventative and reactive maintenance, working closely with the Maintenance team/contractors.

Stocktaking of spares and equipment – working with the Maintenance Manager.

Keeping up to date with all new relevant Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.

Manage the production and implementation of standard operating procedures.

Maintaining good liaison with colleagues, residents and other stakeholders – good communication skills essential

Support training programs when required to facilitate knowledge sharing for plant and operations.

Ensure MEGL company policies and guidelines are followed at all times.

We are looking for a good Team Leader, a mechanically/electrically qualified supervisor of engineers who has multi site experience (preferably district energy/heating schemes) valued up to £3 million+

Do you have the ability to manage and develop O&M teams to deliver optimised levels of service across multi locations, if so this could be the right opportunity for you.


The sites/assets we manage are Plant rooms, predominantly District Heating and CHP schemes that are either residential new build developments with some commercial developments also. 


Duties for the Operations Manager:

Manage his/her team.

Manage the O&M contracts including KPI delivery

Enforcing RAMS and all other company policies/procedures/processes

Oversee the operations of all sites with a view to remotely monitor and optimise plant performance

Manage the O&M budget/PnL

Oversee the maintenance programme and any variations

Oversee any minor works/upgrades/projects

Report into the Operations Director

Progress Meetings / Reports


Must have experience/knowledge of working on district energy/heating schemes.
